Accessible Pathways
Firm, rollable matting so everyone — wheels included — can cross the sand.
Welcome to
A playa by the sea.
Dogs. Art. Community.
All are welcome.
What is Burning Dog?
Burning Dog is a weekly community build circle for artists, dog lovers, surfers, volunteers, sponsors, and Ocean Beach locals imagining a coastal art gathering rooted in Dog Beach culture. The idea is simple: build a temporary White Sand City that celebrates dogs, accessibility, public art, and community participation — while respecting the beach, the rules, and the permitting process.
White Sand City
White Sand City is the accessibility-first layout concept. Instead of forcing people, wheelchairs, carts, and art installations through soft sand, temporary beach access matting creates a rollable civic spine. The mat becomes a road, a promenade, an art corridor, and a practical way to move safely across the beach.
Firm, rollable matting so everyone — wheels included — can cross the sand.
Move sculpture, shade, and stages without tearing up the beach.
Clear, marked corridors for crews hauling gear and materials.
Leaves-no-trace infrastructure that packs out clean when the day ends.
Designed around off-leash play, surfers, families, and wildlife.
Scoped from day one around City review, safety, and the environment.
Respect the beach
Weekly Gathering
Every city starts with the crew that shows up. The Wednesday gathering is where volunteers, artists, nonprofit partners, sponsors, local businesses, and community organizers coordinate the next build step.
